How are you? It’s been a long time since our last post, two weeks ago! Mr. BD was too busy with his own job and Ms. BD was not in a good health lately. But now, we’re back! 😀
A little update about Batam Diners, we are so happy that we received a lot of call and email from you guys asking about culinary in Batam. Hope our little story can help you to find a great place for your everyday dining. 🙂
Recently, we received an invitation from Montigo Resorts to try their dining place. Our first question in mind, is it expensive? Almost all people will consider this question before go to a resort for dinner. So, let’s find it out guys!
Riding to this place reminded us when we were at our university town, Bandung. Escape from the city to get a different dinner experience, no matter how far it was, we just enjoyed our journey to reach the place. From our place Batam Centre to Montigo Resorts, it took us 30 minutes.
Montigo Resorts has 3 dining places, TADD’S for all day dining, PANTAI for sensational seafood, and TIIGO for Asian & Western food, martinis, and music. For this time, let’s try their seafood range from PANTAI restaurant.
When we arrived at the restaurant, we were welcomed with a friendly staff and we forgot to take some pictures for the ambiance. Sorry about that guys. In general way, view from our table was the sea and Singapore’s building view at night. Even though we sat in the open air, it was not so windy.
Anyway, none of the menu was missed for you, so let’s check it out!
Fish Maw Soup
Start with the appetizer, we have double boiled fish maw soup with carrot, black fungus, and spring onions. From the menu book, it already made us mouth watering. It was served hot, light, and fresh. All the ingredients were really fresh and they didn’t put a lot of MSG inside. This is what we called a good appetizer. It started our mood but not made us full while waiting our main course.
Deep Fried Cuttlefish
What can we say? This is the best calamari we ever had. Ms. BD always wondering, where she could find a good calamari, and this day she found it! The cuttlefish was delicious, tasted very great both outside and inside, and also fried perfectly. The presentation was astonishing and the portion was also generous. It was a perfection! 🙂
Deep Fried Prawn with Cereal
As always, seafood will never be complete without the presence of prawn. We have deep fried crispy prawn with cereal as our dish. The prawn was quite big, cooked and fried very well, and the cereal was sweet and salty in the same time. They also put a lot of prawns in one plate which is very generous!
Black Pepper Mud Crab
When this dish come, we were stunned by its fragrance and multicolor. It was literally empty our stomach to make room of itself. The crab was cooked very well and the shell was easily removed. The black pepper sauce was very strong with additional onion and paprika. Best served with hot steamed rice.
Baby Kailan “Duo of Flavors”
They cooked the baby kailan in two different ways, stir with oyster sauce and crispy with garlic egg. The taste was good. BD preferred the stir one due to it was more suitable with other main dishes.
Meltique Beef Loin
They served this beautiful dish in a very delicious way. As always, you can ask your beef to be rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, or well done. Anyway, Mr. BD really recommend you to order medium rare or medium as it will give you the best dining experience ever. Never ever order well done, as you should order chicken instead. 😀
We got the medium beef loin steak, and it was brilliant. The steak itself was perfectly grilled. You can see that the pink meat in the medium is slightly cooked, but still give you the juiciness of the meat. The meat can be cut very easily. It was marinated really well, and the sauce will enhance the taste even better. They use red wine and other ingredients for the sauce, and the taste was stunning. Possibly the best steak and sauce Mr. BD ever had in his culinary experience.
Mashed potato was perfect, seasoned perfectly, and not too watery. The asparagus also grilled very well and tasted delicious. This is a MUST TRY dish for you, Batam Diners. 😉
Anyway, this menu is came from TIIGO restaurant. Two thumbs up for the chef!
Finding Nemo and Glory of Pantai
Finding Nemo – a mocktail which consist of blue curacao syrup, lemon juice, and 7up. It was fresh and good.
Glory of Pantai – a cocktail which consist of smirnoff vodka, triple sec, orange juice, grenadine syrup, and peach syrup. The vodka taste was stronger than other ingredients. Nevertheless, it was a good beverage too.
Orange Cider and Nongsa Sweet & Spicy
We got a pleasure to try their bartender’s signature beverage this day.
Orange Cider – it was a mix of orange, milk, white egg, and red bull. They cleverly put a burned cinnamon stick on the mocktail, and the sweet taste was really natural. They also decorated the glass with burned lemon and the fragrance was very nice. It was a unique yet tasty mocktail from Montigo Resort, a must try one for you guys! 😉
Nongsa Sweet & Spicy – it was a mix of pineapple, paprika, and simple syrup vodka. Another unique beverage from this resort. At our first sip, it left us a fresh and hot taste. If you looking for a warmed up beverage, you can consider this cocktail and have a try on it.
Warm Apple Tart
A room for dessert, why not?! We have an apple tart to complete our dinner. It was presented with three kind of apples. The base was a little bit thick with slice of apple on the top of it. The second level was soft and sweet. The third level, as we could say, grilled apple. It was like eating a caramel grilled apple, but the taste was delicious. We also get a little scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of crunchy almond and cinnamon.

Sure, we will back to Montigo Resorts, maybe not only both of us, but also with our friends or family to have another good experience from this resort. Maybe trying their TIIGO for weekend party? That sounds nice!
We got information that they also have promo for swimming pool. If we take a dining in Montigo Resorts, we can use the swimming pool for free. We have a plan to bring our niece and family here to spend our Sunday time together. Just wait for our next review, ok! 😀
