Hello Guys…
Talking about Japanese food, what is in your mind? Sushi, shabu-shabu, ramen, uncooked food, expensive, what else? Well, today story, we’ll talk about one of Japanese restaurant in Batam, Takigawa Resto. It’s located in Nagoya Citywalk, near the Fun World.

After welcomed by the waitress, we were chosen our Japanese table.

Japanese Themed Dining Table
With a thick menu book, we were confused on what should we order. They have a wide range variety of Japanese cuisine, such as appetizer, soup, fusion sushi, nigiri sushi, kamameshi, kushiyaki, sashimi, temaki, shabu-shabu, noodles, special from the grill, side dish, rice dish, beverage, and dessert. It’s a lot, huh?! Since it’s a franchise restaurant, no wonder they are ready with all of this menu. Alright, after read the menu back and forth, finally, we came up with our order, Takigawa Roll, Scallop in Dynamite, Takigawa Kamameshi, Hakuna Matata, and Green Tea Smoothies.
Now, let’s get the menu!
Takigawa Roll – Salmon, scallop, crabstick glazzed with house special sauce, topped with tobiko and duck liver pate.

Takigawa Roll
The sushi was very delicious. It was perfectly made, fresh, and well seasoned. You can eat it as it is, or you can mix it with soy sauce, your choice! For original taste, we recommend to take the sushi without the soy sauce! Poor masago (roe’s egg), we dropped a lot while eating the sushi.. Nevertheless, this dish is recommended for you guys. 🙂
Takigawa Kamameshi – Eel, crab, salmon, scallop, prawn, chicken and vegetable steamed rice.

Takigawa Kamameshi
The food presentation was quite different with what we see on the menu book. The real one was not as much as shown, and the presentation was not very beautiful either. The rice was a little bit overcooked, as we saw the burnt rice at the bottom of the bowl later on. The dish itself was quite spicy, but not hot. The prawn and scallop was delicious, fresh, but that’s it. Not very recommended for you guys, unfortunately.
Scallop in Dynamite – Grilled scallop and sweet shitake with dynamite sauce serve in shell dish.

Scallop in Dynamite
After finish Takigawa Roll and Takigawa Kamameshi, we still have to wait this menu. Our eyes just focused on the kitchen. The manager said they need 15 minutes to bake this menu and since there were a lot of customers, it took more longer. It’s a bad point since we have to wait another 15 minutes after finished other menus. So, the taste should be good for a better point. From the presentation, it made us really eager to try this menu. It served in a shell dish. But, if you take away, they just put it in aluminum foil. At the first bite, with a small spoon, you can taste the scallop and shitake was fresh and the creamy dynamite sauce made it perfect. We can say that it’s so amazing! Very delicious! We highly recommend you guys to try this menu. But, be prepared to wait it for quite some time.
Hakuna Matata

Hakuna Matata
This is a mixture of watermelon, orange, guava, and pineapple. What’s the result after mix it all? Sure, it was fresh, but, not very impressive like the name. The guava was dominant inside.
Green Tea Smoothies

Green Tea Smoothies
The whip cream was kind of weird since the texture was quite solid, not like common whip cream which is foamy. The taste was decent, and not very special. You are very welcome to try another menu and share to us!

Stay tuned, ok! 😉

Unfortunately, the scallop was not available, I would love to try it. For me… there are way better Japanese restaurants at Batam.I have pics of staff just sitting on the floor, playing with their hp. Not something I want to see as a customer. And the food was just ‘plain’ to. Maybe I just missed the scallop. Sorry, for me a ‘No go’
Dear Frank,
Sorry to hear your unpleasant experience there. Hope they will read your comment and improve themselves!

Well it has closed down now. I would like to contact some of the former shareholders to find out what happened.
Anyway they were not scallops but were in fact oysters, so you didn’t miss much.
